OpenAI has signed an agreement with Condé Nast, the publisher of prestigious publications such as The New Yorker, Vogue, and Wired, to feature content from its properties in OpenAI's AI-powered chatbot platform ChatGPT and search prototype SearchGPT.

The terms of the cooperation were not disclosed. However, in a message to workers, Condé Nast CEO Roger Lynch hinted that the "multi-year" deal may include remuneration from OpenAI in some way; a Condé Nast spokeswoman tells us that OpenAI will be allowed to train on Condé Nast content.

OpenAI has declined to respond.

Condé Nast is the latest news business to reach a deal with OpenAI about how its work will be highlighted and used throughout OpenAI's products. Other publishers that have collaborated with the AI startup include the Associated Press, Axel Springer, The Atlantic, Financial Times, News Corp, and Time.

As TC recently reported, these transactions are being done without the involvement of their reporters and editors, much to the dismay of some of those employees.
