The May release of OpenAI's new GPT-4o "omni" model boosted ChatGPT's app income significantly. After a significant increase following the model's release, the mobile version of OpenAI's chatbot has now seen its highest month of income yet. Appfigures, an app intelligence organization, reported that the app generated $28 million in net sales from the App Store and Google Play in July.

Note that net revenue is the amount OpenAI retains after paying Apple and Google's in-app purchase fees. In addition, the firm discovered that Apple's App Store accounted for 83% of the app's income, a figure that has increased by 20% since June.

Before app store fees, ChatGPT's app generated $28.9 million in May, $34 million in June, and $39.9 million in July.

GPT-4o enabled ChatGPT to handle text, speech, and video. It also began to provide faster response times and the ability to interrupt the chatbot, making interactions with the AI more human-like and natural, among other things.

According to Appfigures, demand for this new technology prompted a 40% increase in ChatGPT app revenue during May. While growth has slowed significantly since then, revenue is still increasing at a solid rate.

With the income collected in July, Appfigures estimates that ChatGPT added 2 million new paying customers, setting another record for the mobile app.

With the introduction of ChatGPT's new Advanced Voice Mode, which provides nearly real-time, lifelike interactions, Appfigures anticipates continued growth in the coming months.
